04. Mentors and Student Hub
Mentors and Student Hub
Student Hub is our real-time collaboration platform where you can chat with your mentor and your peers.
Mentor
As soon as you complete the Welcome Survey, you get matched to your mentor who will be available to you via Student Hub.
Sending your mentor a Direct Message is a great first step any time you need help with something throughout the program. They can help get you unstuck, put concepts into greater context, and drive you toward reaching your goals. Your mentor can also help you come up with a personalized learning plan to keep you on track so you can complete the program based on your own schedule!
Peer collaboration
In addition to your mentor, Student Hub also provides different rooms for you to collaborate with your fellow students and alumni. We'll discuss each of these types of rooms below.
Communities
Each Nanodegree program you enroll in has its own community of current students and alumni from the same program. Additionally, Udacity will from time to time have other shared rooms between all Udacity students to help you correspond with the broader student community.
Please note that the community channels do not have technical mentors present.
Project Rooms
Another type of room in Student Hub exists for each of the projects in your Nanodegree program. Here, you can ask questions of your fellow students specific to a given project.
Please note that the project rooms do not have technical mentors present.
Direct Messages
The last section of Student Hub houses any direct message conversations you may be a part of. You can send a fellow student a direct message by clicking on their name, and then Send Direct Message
in the side-bar.
Pro-tip: You can also see some stats on your fellow students' projects and Nanodegree programs by clicking on their name as well!
